A winner at Houston International 2013 and Road To Calif Jan 2014

I am so honored. My small piece " The Long Winter's Veil" is a painted surface category prize winner ( don't know what yet) at this years International Quilt Festival in Houston. I love the judging at this festival as they are not inhibited from honoring smaller pieces. Lucky me.  UPDATE:  My little snow bunting piece took 1st place at Houston International.

In Jan. 2014, it also took first place at Road To California. I'm incredibly honored. My message to self... Make sure what I'm creating really touches me deeply.  It seems to help!

Europe's Patchwork & Quilt Journal includes Patt's work.

Several weeks ago, I was contacted by a lovely quilt magazine editor Gabi Maier from Vienna. I was honored to have been recognized at all, and even more thrilled when asked if her German language magazine might include an article on some of my work. Pictures sent for her option to choose. Questions answered and low and behold, I learned there would be several pages dedicated to my work.  It turned out to be 7, including 3 pages dedicated to one quilt:  " My Gentle Giant Ben."
The magazine arrived in my mail yesterday and what a shock when I opened the package. On the front cover... my piece "Proud Hertitage" which honored local friend and former Padua Hills Theater ( Claremont, California, U S A )  folk dancer: Margie Torrence.
Everything inside the magazine is in German. I feel pretty dumb. I can't read an article about my own work.  I do know how I answered  questions though so I imagine I pretty much know what it says... "somewhere in there anyway."   What an honor!  Thanks Gabrielle!!

Dear Quilting Friends

International Quilt Day is just around the corner, and as a featured artist on a past episode of The Quilt Show, (www.thequiltshow.com) I wanted to let you know about a gift that Alex and Ricky have put together for quilters around the world.

Beginning on Friday, March 16 through Sunday, March 18, everyone who signs on to The Quilt Show will have free access to over 140 of their internet shows, including my episode #510. You can watch the shows, check out the great tutorials, browse the gallery of over 19,900 member quilts, visit the forum for answers to the most burning quilt questions and lots, lots more. And if you missed my show, you can see it now.

You can also enter the TQS prize drawing with prizes from companies we know and love like Bernina, Gammill, Superior Threads, AccuQuilt, C&T Publishing, RJR Fabric, and Ricky and Alex will have gift baskets to give away too. The grand prize is a new Bernina 550QE sewing machine!

I wanted to make you aware of this amazing event so you can take advantage of everything this exciting weekend has to offer without leaving home and all for free.

Don’t hesitate to share this information with your quilting friends, fellow guild members, social networking friends and local quilt shops so that they don’t miss out on this fun weekend. And feel free to post an abbreviated version of the details on your Facebook page. I want everyone to know about this amazing 3-day celebration of all things quilting.

So check in at www.thequiltshow.com on Friday, March 15, and enjoy the shows and exploring The Quilt Show website and all it has to offer! I’d love to have you view my show, episode #510.

Route 66 Exhibit at Road To California Jan.24-27 2013

I spent New Years Day and the day after blog posting pics of all 50+ quilts and related exhibition panels ( includes the 66 foot map from Chicago to L.A.).  The  quilts are spectacular and need to be seen up close to appreciate the intricate quilting as well as imaging. I hope you might get to the Road To California Quilt Show at Ontario California Convention Center. Jan 24 - 27, 2013.
